Laura’s music educational background, her highly successful career performing world wide and her 16 years of conducting her own more than 100 voice Rock & Pop Choir and Fat Chants Jazz Choir is an unbeatable formula for coaching.
Laura Lang started singing at the tender age of four and sang on her first radio show when she was just six years old. She continued performing regularly on radio, local t.v. and in community performances throughout her school years.
Laura started teaching voice, harmony, guitar and piano while still in high school after which she continued on to university where she graduated in three voice majors, Opera, Jazz and Performance.
Laura’s professional career then took her all over the world from Las Vegas and Philadelphia, to Nassau, Aruba, Europe and Tokyo, headlining a variety of multi-million dollar casino shows, performing solo cabaret acts on cruise ships, and headlining in theatres, five-star hotel lounges and show rooms worldwide as a singer, dancer, and pianist.
Throughout Laura's worldwide performing career, she has always made time for her first love – teaching. Laura’s performances often inspired new students to approach her for lessons and she has always taken great joy in watching them grow into confident singers and in some cases, successful performing artists.
Laura has been a guest instructor at adult weekend music retreats and workshops (e.g. the “Georgia Straight Guitar Workshop” adult weekend retreat), taught underprivileged Junior High School students with the Sarah McLachlan Outreach Project, as well as many private and community groups. Laura regularly gives her students the opportunity to sing together and perform solo in concerts.
In 2007, Laura, a vocal harmony expert, founded SING CITY CHOIR to share her love of singing, and give others the opportunity to take it to the next level by performing in front of large audiences (every show is totally sold out, well in advance).
Due to Laura’s reputation within Vancouver's music scene and her proven expertise, SING CITY has grown exponentially over the years to over 100 active members.
Laura Lang has recorded several popular solo CD's during her travels, as well as a CD with her Vancouver jazz vocal harmony trio "A String of Girls".
Laura’s professional accomplishments, life long performing experience, 16 years of conducting her own Rock & Pop Choir (SING CITY) and Jazz Choir (FAT CHANTS) and undeniable talent are magic formula that makes her a superb teacher.
And this is what she finds the MOST rewarding of all.
